Taking Pride in Survey Design

Have you ever struggled with the “about you” section?  You know that the one we’re talking about, don’t you?  It’s the survey section that asks all sorts of personal information – age, race, ethnicity, zip code, gender, sexual orientation, and on and on.  At Sharp Insight, we certainly struggle with it!  In fact, we regularly reflect on why, when, and how we collect a full range of data “about you."

In honor of Pride Month, we’re sharing some specific considerations for collecting gender and/or sexual orientation-related survey data. And just in case you’re looking for professional or personal resources to better support the LGBTQ community, we’ve put together this list of a few standout options for professional development, community spaces, and hotlines.
